Sharon Docherty
Biography
"Everything that we need is here in the present moment." — Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche
Sharon Docherty embodies this wisdom through her life's work as an Equine Gestalt Coach, Equine Facilitator, and lifelong music educator. Rooted in authenticity and a seeker of deeper truth, she weaves mindfulness, music, and the timeless wisdom of horses to facilitate transformation.
Sharon has always been drawn to animals, music, and helping others. She was led to study music education and teach K-12 across diverse educational settings where she infuses her classes with creative collaboration, rhythmic expression, and movement. As a founding member of a Waldorf-inspired charter school, she championed arts integration, open-ended thinking, and a close connection to nature—values she continues to honor in her personal and professional life.
A proud graduate of Naropa University with a Master’s degree in Contemplative Education, Sharon incorporates contemplative practices into all that she does. Residing in Northern Colorado with her family and equine partners, she understands firsthand how horses— living only in the present—can serve as powerful mirrors and guides to our inner selves. "Horses are the most brilliant partners because they only see what IS, not what should be," she says, highlighting the magic they bring as co-coaches in the work.
Passionate about uniting people through music, movement and self-discovery, Sharon leads song circles and facilitates musical collaboration in addition to doing gestalt deep process work. Her mission is clear: to help others find their voice, whether through singing, speaking their truth, or discovering and embracing their authentic selves.
Outside of her coaching work, Sharon loves immersing herself in the beauty of the Colorado foothills, whether hiking or trail riding with her horses. She enjoys quality time with her family—both human and furry—and finds joy in playing original music with her band, engaging in fiber arts, painting and collage, tending to her herb garden, ecstatic dance, traveling and celebrating festivals that honor the changing seasons. Dedicated to exploring neurodiversity and supporting the gender-expansive and queer community, Sharon stands up against injustice, bringing compassion and understanding to her interactions.
Sharon lives her life passionately, authentically, and with a deep commitment to supporting others on their journeys of self-discovery, creative expression and healing. Sharon strives to create accessible, inclusive, and equitable services and community spaces and is happy to be in conversation with clients about how to meet their needs, abilities, or cultural experiences.
